DIALOGUE:
it creates the actions, it shows what a character thinks about another, it
gives information about the past and can foreshadow subsequent events
SOLILOQUY AND MONOLOGUE are special conventions of Elizabethan drama, whereas in the former the character is alone on the stage, in the latter there are others characters but the speaker ignores them. ASIDES are short comments made by character for the audience. Their purpose are: -to reveal the nature of the speaker -to explain developments -to create humor LANGUAGE: it' s particulary intense and variegated because it can share the features of every speech of poetry or prose. Another feature of dramatic language is the use of images. |
