COSTUMES
The fashion until henry 7 was dominated by medieval costumes,tunics,capes,stockings.The waist coat was short and made of expensive material,such as velvet,brocade and silk.Women wore long skirts and tight bodices with law or square necks;they used also gorgeous ruffs.Women’s hair was worn simply and knoted at the back.

Men wore venetian breeches,full at the top,narrowing to the knee.

Stocking were made of yarn,silk,or wool,tight at the ankles.

Hair for men was short accompanied by a trim mustache or beard.

Sleeves were full for men and sometimes included secret pockets.

Capes were worn by both men ahd women.

Gloves were made of parfumed leather.Parfums,silks embroidery handkerchiefs were freely used.

Fbrics reflected england’s merchant activities:brocade was imported from orient,silk from Bruges,velvet from Venice.

Queen Elizabeth wore fabulous clothes coverd with jewels,gems and pearls,amethysts and rubies;even the shoes were decorated with jewels.
