SENECA | |
Lucio Anneo Seneca was
born in 4 B.C. in Cordoba (Spain).
He took up the forensic carrier during the empire of Caligola (37,48), but the Imperial Court didn't like him very much, he was often on trial. In 49 A.C. he was called to Roma from his exile in Corsica to became Nero's preceptor. Seneca was a stoic, he hoped to make Nero a ruler enlighted by stoicism. He wrote tragedies and dedicated a satire to the weak Claudio (41,54): "Apokolocintosis", in which pumpkins became the main characters. Nero was crazy and didn't accept Seneca's guidance. In 62 Nero ordered his teacher to commit suicide. |
